Employee Spotlight: Konstantinos Economopoulos

Konstantinos Economopoulos, CEO and Co-Founder of iSolace Inc., took time out of his busy schedule to talk about his life and role at the company.

Where are you from? Where did you go to school?

I am originally from Athens, Greece, and I went to medical school at the University of Athens, where I acquired an MD-PhD degree. Four years ago, I matched at Duke for my general surgery residency training, and I am now in my 5th year of training. During my academic development years (3rd and 4th years of training), I acquired a Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering with a focus on medical device design.

What is the best part of working for iSolace Inc.?

The best part of working for iSolace is that I get to brainstorm, ideate, and exchange interesting ideas with people from different backgrounds. I learn so many things every single day by interacting with my fellow coworkers at iSolace.

Describe your role at iSolace Inc.

I am honored to be the CEO of iSolace. My main roles are to make major corporate decisions after getting the input of all members of the team, manage the overall operations, and act as the main point of contact between the Board of Directors and corporate operations. Most importantly though, I feel that my role at iSolace is to work harder than anyone else, create a safe working environment where everyone feels heard and included, and encourage team spirit in our team.

What facet of the company are you most excited to be working on?

I am mostly excited to work on inspiring our team to reach the next goal, whatever this may be!

How do you define success?

Success is having the energy to keep chasing my dreams until the day I die.

Favorite place in the world?

My favorite place in the world is… right next to my wife. 

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

Running, playing basketball, and recently… windsurfing!

What is one food you can’t live without?

Bread.

Favorite thing you’ve read, watched, or listened to lately?

Apollo’s Arrow by Nicholas A. Christakis. A must read for everyone who wants to understand the pandemic that turned our lives upside down.

Any other fun facts?

I recently bought a bouzouki and tried to teach myself how to play it!
